I have been working from the inside out since the birth of my first child. For 10 years before that I explored, in large sculpture installations, social and cultural issues such as a Bronx woman who kept a pet pig, the famous Coney Island Polar Bear Club, and the rural African American farming community in Staten Island called Sandy Ground. This was valuable work for me because it helped me understand myself and my larger community.
